Daylight Gained January

On March 8, and the opportunity of being a woman is enough enough enough

Today is International Women's Day, for many but not all. For me, no.
There is nothing to celebrate, nothing to be bandied about in the world, nothing to prove.
On this day I do not accept cards, or mimosas. Willingly accept the clear signals that things in Italy and around the world are changing, about the difficulties faced by every woman. But this does not happen, and yet everywhere we talk about how you will spend a day like any other, a day when you prefer to talk about women getting wild in a disco or pizzeria, forgetting what it really means to be a woman.
Women are raped, women forced to leave work to raise their children, battered women, women who are exploited. Women that, in spite of themselves, they must give up their dreams for the rigid rules of this society based on clear mechanisms for men. Becoming men seems to be the only solution for a decent life ... Here's the sad compromise: keep women and femininity as would be natural to live with each of us, or give up. Tell yourself not to want children, not wanting to put a miniskirt, do not need to express their feelings. Become women and men from 12 hours per day seems to really be the only way to survive ...
This makes no sense. And it is sad that empower those who are against is inevitably a victim of the mechanisms I have described ... If you decide to become mother loses her job, if I put my skirt is raped and is considered guilty unless he works as a man all day, forgetting the children who need her, and often is relegated fired.
At the 8th March I wrote a new article to walking barefoot, talking about violence. prejudices, stereotypes and pain. He talks about women. Happy reading!
