I'm not Catholic and the marriage has no religious connotation. Regulatory means to get married for the purposes of Italian law, which does not recognize de facto couples, a bond between two individuals who have already formed a family.
And for this, excuse the brackets and serious controversy, Mr. Ratzinger makes me laugh when he talks about protecting the value of family, urging young people to marry in a catholic church. I want to ask if I had the opportunity, how would two people, like me and my partner, who for 10 years together under one roof, they are happy, we respect and love each other, share the daily difficulties and the small joys of a life slowly built together, have a wonderful son of 10 months, desired, intended and loved from the first moment of its existence. I want to ask if it's a yes, that before an altar, where among other things almost nobody really believes, to make this a family.
Closed parenthesis controversy, it seems obvious that our decision to get married in town, as an act of lay people chosen as Italian citizens.
I'll use this post, 3 days after the big day, to dispel the myth that the civil rites are less intense and beautiful than religious. Instead I will show you briefly that a civil ceremony can become an opportunity, not granted by the Catholic Church to make their wedding unique and original.
The first peculiarity of a civil ceremony, not many know is that every Italian citizen, asked for a delegation to the Mayor of the city where the marriage is celebrated, it can be the officiant of the rite in question, complete with a tricolor flag.
This is a wonderful opportunity to involve a loved one (in addition to the witnesses), which, symbolically, we will unite in marriage. The officiant was the only obligation to read the articles of the Civil Code concerning marriage and to make the fateful question that should be completed by the SI 'of the spouses. For the rest everything is allowed and you can play around with ideas and find original. Of course, if the municipal employee will get married in office, he will read the articles and everything will be finished in 5 minutes. But proposing an ad hoc officiating, you can "build" with him a personal and emotional ceremony.
You can enter the exchange of rings, reading a love poem, you can let the witnesses speak or some special guest, you can listen to the vows of the couple, you can put music, musicians, singers .. . I mean what more you like to have a ceremony of your own! The only restriction the length: in Naples is the maximum half an hour! The right time to live a beautiful and special moment, no one gets bored with sermons long hours ...
So there will reveal what will happen Saturday because we have decided to let the officiating get organized by giving us just a ritual as a surprise, but obviously we are sure that our dear fellow officer in a civil ceremony that will make it special!
So what alternative is more of a civil ceremony personal and unique?
